Hmm, So first of all I will give you a straight answer and that is YES But question is How! ?
For being a perfect man we have to know about perfection. do you know what is the word "Perfect" mean? If you know then it would be easy for you to become perfect when you know a matter, then that matter would be easy to solve for you , Is it not?.
Every Humans have two minds and two hearts and one Self (psyche|ego|soul). Now our topic has been started.
Self (in Urdu: Nafs ) is the ultimate decision maker behind our mind and heart. As said we have two mind two heart (but not physically, smiling ) in every deed we have two mind set, one says different from other sometimes both says same and sometimes they have conflict with hearts and sometimes they (minds) convince to hearts sometimes one heart get convinced other not sometimes both get convinced. After fighting between minds and hearts, Nafs comes to command and declare his ultimate decision poor minds and hearts have to obey his decision.
Explanation Example 1 : Let suppose a bottle of Alcohol is in front of us then first our heart will move towards and say take it , taste it , enjoy it ETC may be second heart say NO it is forbidden in Islam , so situation can't be solved without mind Okay minds comes and thinks about all scenario one mind think no body are seeing me, no one can be witness to this ETC, Mr heart please drink this (hearts already in confusion because they have already doubt about ) then second mind comes and says no body seeing , no one can be witnessed ETC But ALLAH ALMIGHTY AZZAWAJAL seeing us, Don't drink! Situations become worst and finally Nafs comes Orders to hearts and minds to stand in front of him, and declare his ultimate decision: I'll drink this! Or I'll not drink this!
Most Humans have one good heart and one good mind, but problem is they have one bad heart and one bad mind too. If we make our bad heart and mind to flaw (imperfect) then we can win our fight with own-self. If we win the fight from bad hearts and mind, then Nafs will not engage in your matter.
Explanation Example 2 : Let suppose a bottle of Alcohol is in front of us then first our good heart will move towards and say loudly don't drink! simultaneously mind says loudly, yes don't drink! this will cause weakness of bad heart and bad mind and they will not have to dare to convince to drink. ( If they do so, then you have another challenge to convince them with your good mind and you will see bad heart will accept easily but bad mind can take time ). In this all matter Nafs can't control yourself.
Polish your good heart and mind daily, give interest to them, listen carefully to them, obey them, make them stronger, make them perfect.
In every matter or situation in your life you will face such situation when you have to fight with your own mind and heart if you remain with your good heart and mind then you will not face your Nafs.
